Challenge
Sensitive workforce transitions were being orchestrated via emailed spreadsheets—slow, error‑prone, and difficult to secure. No source of truth, no version control, and quite literally reducing people to numbers in a situation where empathy and compassion should be forefront.
Approach
I pitched a dedicated web platform, secured alignment, and led the vision, prototyping, and storytelling. The client needed to secure funding to proceed with development so I partnered with a freelance sketch artist and voice actor to create dynamic, engaging video that allowed them to secure the $1.2M needed for development. I built a small team (two junior designers I hired and mentored), created a comprehensive design system, and set the design principles: simple, fair, and human.
Outcomes
Early feedback was strong and development began in earnest. Several months in the client made the difficult decision to pause the initiative to refocus the business; they didn't have manpower to steer the development while still managing existing clients. Even without launch, the work demonstrated the right product strategy, ability to get decision makers to align, and a design language that imbued a high-stress, critical workflow process with empathy, fairness, and understanding.
